The HOA encourages all homeowners to turn off their irrigation water for the season now. The HOA water will be turned off this Friday, October 16th. If you want suggestions for how to prepare your system for winter, click on the attached link or access it under Documents on the HOA website (Irrigation suggestions).

We have received updated information from the Mesa County Irrigation District that the irrigation water for our area has been restored. The end of season cutoff date has not been decided, but we will let you know as soon as that information is available.

In the meantime, feel free to resume your lawn watering schedule. Please use the water wisely.

Today we received the following information from the Mesa County Irrigation District, the district that supplies and controls our irrigation water:

“With the recent rainfall and more predicted coming, MCID will temporarily shut down irrigation water in the Stub Ditch and M laterals off of Highline Canal 9/3 for about a week to 10 days. This will allow growers and farmers downstream to irrigate their crops as needed. Depending on the weather and rainfall, MCID will start up (the irrigation water) again when needed.”

As indicated above, the MCID is making this decision to protect our farmers and our food supply. I’ve been in conversation with the MCID in recent days and they do not make this decision lightly. The water will be turned off on this Thursday, so we would encourage you to turn off your systems before then to avoid any potential damage to your system. If and when the HOA learns that irrigation water is being restored, we will notify you via email and the website. You can also FOLLOW the MCID on Facebook, where they will be posting updates.

The irrigation system is temporarily off due to a break on G road. Please turn your controllers to off. The system should be back on later today, May 8th, 2026.

NOTE: The water break has been fixed.

As the growing and outdoor season swing into full force, the HOA Board would like to share two reminders:

1.    YARDS – Please keep your yards attractive, mowed (if applicable) and weed-free throughout the growing season, out of consideration for your neighbors and in accord with our CC&Rs (Article VII, Section 3).

2.   TRASH CANS – Trash cans must be stored either behind a fence or in the garage and should be returned to their storage location the same day the trash is collected (Article VII, Section 10).

IRRIGATION WATER IS ON! Thanks to Dan Bailey, our HOA’s irrigation water came on yesterday afternoon. We are unaware at this time of any problems. IRRIGATION WATER DELAY – To ensure that the irrigation water coming out of the canal is relatively clean, we are delaying the opening of our HOA irrigation lines until this Thursday afternoon, April 9th. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Walnut Estates irrigation water is scheduled to be turned on late this coming Monday afternoon, April 6th. In preparation, please make sure your main irrigation water valve is CLOSED. If your valve is partially or fully open when the water comes on, you will have a flood in your yard. The Palisade Irrigation District website indicates that irrigation water will be turned off next Friday, October 24th. Although the Palisade Irrigation District will be turning the water on and off for maintenance purposes between October 24 and 31, all residents should turn off their water not later than October 24th. HOA homeowners can turn their water valve off earlier than the 24th, if they choose, and have your system blown out prior to that as well. But, if you do, be sure to follow the instructions on the HOA website (Documents – Walnut Estates HOA) regarding water valve position for the winter.
